Monday:
Year 3 and 4 Gymnastics –
This club is being ran by an outside specialist coach with the aim of improving gymnastics throughout the school. The club will focus on the basic shapes, balances, travels, rolls, and then moving onto more advanced gymnastics skills such as sequences linking all the basic stuff together.
Year 5 and 6 Hockey –
The hockey club is mainly focusing on the introduction of hockey to the school, looking at all the vital beginner fundamentals, how to hold the stick, how to use it safely, how to dribble, pass, shoot and the understanding of the rules.
Year 5 and 6 Football –
This club focuses on students who want to participate in playing football, and further developing their ability. This club also leads to a year 5 and 6 football team which will represent the school in footballing fixtures throughout the year.
Tuesday:
Year 3 and 4 Football –
Year 3 and 4 football also runs afterschool on Monday. This is for pupils who are keen to play football and develop their football skills. Certain students from this club will also be selected to represent Chilwell Croft Academy in football matches and football tournaments against other schools throughout the year.
Wednesday:
Year 1 and 2 Football –
Year 1 and 2 have a club on Wednesday purely to focus on the football fundamentals, with the aim to maintain the high standard of football expected for the school.
Year 3 and 4 Hockey –
The hockey club is mainly focusing on the introduction of hockey to the school, looking at all the vital beginner fundamentals, how to hold the stick, how to use it safely, how to dribble, pass, shoot and the understanding of the rules.
Year 5 and 6 Basketball –
This basketball club focuses on preparing pupils for basketball tournaments throughout the year, focusing on tactics, basketball fundamentals and teamwork.
Thursday:
Year 1 and 2 Dance–
The dance club will be looking at routines, different songs, dance fundamentals and physical literacy.
Year 5 and 6 Cricket –
This club is a first for the school, so it will be focusing on the basics of cricket, from the correct technique of how to bowl, field and bat, with the hope of developing a cricket team to represent the school.
Year 4, 5 and 6 Girls Football –
Girls football is for pupils that are eager to learn about the game of football, learn different skills, develop skills, and prepare for tournaments throughout the year.
Friday:
Year 5 and 6 Football –
Very similar to the Monday after school club however with more of a focus on strength and conditioning to improve the schools fitness levels.
Gifted and Talented
Gifted and talented is a quick 30 minute football session for pupils who have been specifically selected. In the sessions the selected children will develop their football skills even further enabling them to grow as footballers. Year 3 and 4 have a gifted and talented slot on Tuesday afternoons, with 30 minute session for the boys, and a 30 minute session for the girls, whereas years 5 and 6 have their slot of Wednesday afternoons.
