Mathematics

Our Mathematics curriculum is designed with the intent that all our children will leave Chilwell Croft Academy mathematically passionate, confident and literate.

Learning about Mathematics is extremely important, and we want to empower our students to be lifelong learners and ready to use maths in their daily lives.

Mathematics in our school enables pupils to engage with the wider world and access learning across the wider curriculum.

Our aim is for our children will leave us with a solid understanding of the foundations of all areas of Maths and each child will be challenged to achieve their full potential.

Mathematics is highly valued as it is vital to prepare all children for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of the present and the future.

Curriculum Implementation:

Our curriculum is based on the Primary National Curriculum. We use a variety of resource to support our students and teachers including the White Rose Maths Mastery scheme to structure our learning, Times Table Rockstars to support the development of our students understanding of multiplication and the NCETM Mastering Number programme to secure our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils number sense. We are also proudly part of the NCETM Mastery Readiness programme.

Our Mathematic curriculum is enriched with trips, competitions and weekly recognition of success during Assembly. Children receive several, weekly Mathematics lessons and record their learning in individual books.

Through our quality first Religious Education curriculum our children learn to celebrate diversity, show respect for their own beliefs and for others.

Curriculum Impact:

Throughout the key stages, there will be a clear progression of knowledge and skills. Students will build upon previous knowledge to access new content and then apply this learning to wider study.

Our students will demonstrate their knowledge and skills on a half termly basis through formative assessment. Our Year 4 pupils will demonstrate their knowledge of Multiplication during the national Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) and our Year 2 and Year 6 Pupils will demonstrate their understanding through the SATs assessment.

However, the true impact of our curriculum will be that our students leave Chilwell Croft Academy with a positive attitude towards their own capabilities and the subject of Mathematics.
